His activities include overseeing all services, coordinating the team of professional advisors and handling family legacy asset issues. Ian chairs the Investment Committee, which establishes investment policies, strategies, and money manager performance and selection.

For the past 18 years, Ian has supervised the holdings of the family of the late President Lyndon B. Johnson – where he managed several successful organizational restructurings, including exits from various family-owned and operated businesses, and subsequent redeployment of the proceeds.

Prior to moving to Texas in 1992 from Toronto, Ian had a 20-year career as an international private banking executive with two of Canada’s most prominent banks, both in Canada and in offshore financial centers. The focus of his work was asset protection services and investments for offshore clients. While working in the Bahamas for an affiliate of Royal Bank of Canada, Ian taught courses for the U.K. Institute of Bankers in Nassau.

As President of Canadian Imperial Bank of Canada’s Trust Company in the Cayman Islands in the early 1980s, he oversaw assets under management grow to more than $1 billion. In the mid-1980s, he successfully established and ran a program for CIBC Toronto targeting Hong Kong entrepreneurs to move to and invest directly in Canadian businesses.

Ian currently serves on the boards of Texas Capital Bancshares and St. Edward’s University on which he chairs the Fiduciary Committee. He is a member of the Audit Committee of the Seton Family of Hospitals, and sits on the Investment Sub-Committee of Ascension Health, the parent of the Seton Family of Hospitals and the largest not-for-profit hospital group in the United States.

Previously, Ian served as a board member and chair of the Investment Committee for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and a member of the board of the Seton Family of Hospitals.

Born in Scotland, Ian was educated in England where he received a Master’s degree in International Business from The University of Bradford, Yorkshire, England. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (CPA equivalent).
